NOTICE ON NEW BOOKS IN CAMPUS LIBRARY

As of May 9, 2023, the first batch of new books in Chinese and foreign languages for the 2022-2023 spring and summer semester has been put on the shelves. There are 105 books in foreign languages and 320 in Chinese (See attachment for a detailed list). The new books include not only biomedical science and computer science books, but also various works of humanities and social sciences, also some special bibliography of Haining, tool bibliography, college textbooks and so on. At present, some new foreign books are placed in the atrium area of the first floor of the library, other books in Chinese and foreign languages are placed in the bookshelf area on the second floor and the third floor of the library for general borrow; special bibliography are placed in the special collection room on the second floor of the library for indoor reading; tool books and textbooks are placed in the tool book reading area on the second floor and the textbook bookshelf on the first floor for indoor reading. The library collection construction work focuses on the development of the campus and the development of academic subject and selects books according to the needs of readers at all levels to better build a people-oriented collection system. Readers are welcome to borrow from the library and recommend books actively. Library May 9th, 2023

English Writing Workshop: Tools to Improve Your English Writing

At international campuses, there is a huge amount of English writing to deal with. Are you skilled at it? If not, don't worry. Robert Holmes of the Language Center is here with a professional and useful English writing tool to help! This activity will be carried out through practical training, you will learn about four English vocabulary tools including Oxford Advanced Learner Dictionary, Prime Machine, etc. by analyzing their roles in English academic writing and exploring their use on sentence correction and polishing.

You Select, We Collect —Foreign Language Book Fair

During World Book Reading Day serial activities, the long-awaited offline foreign language book fair finally returns! There will be over 3,000 books on display, covering biomedical, engineering, business, literature, art, history, etc. You can select the books, and we will collect it. Just pick your favorite books at the fair and customize your “Personal Library Booklist”! Optimizing the management of intellectual property and improving the strategic layout of intellectual property can better protect the high-quality development of intellectual property. Song Dynasty Dishes Cooking Competition

Boiled Lamb Intestine, Dried Pickled Fish, Roasted Fish, Stewed Pig Knuckle, Thinly Sliced Meats, Pickled Mustard Root, Spicy Ginger Radish…They are the night market food from Northern Song Dynasty which are recorded in the book Notes of The Dreamed of Dongjing. When the weather gets hotter, there are Bean Jelly with Chicken Skin, Ice Cold Tangyuan, Saponaria Seed Kernels in Sugar Water, Ice Cold Papaya in Sugar water and so on, do they sound very appetizing? The social environment of the Song Dynasty, with its “hundred years of stability”, gave birth to a distinctive food culture. The Office of Campus Operations and Support is launching the “Song Dynasty Dishes Cooking Competition”, inviting you to have a try on Song dynasty dishes cooking. Just invite your friends, search for the Song dynasty information, find a Song dynasty dish that interests you, and scan the code to register! You will have the chance to have your work reproduced and incorporated into the menu! Notice on the Campus Services Arrangement during the Labor Day Holiday

Guide to Avoiding Pitfalls -How to Identify Fake News and Misinformation

With the explosion of information and the proliferation of We Media, how can you tell if a picture is real or fake? How to treat interpretations of the same news from different medias? Can you distinguish those “shocking” fake news? This lecture will explore the characteristics, causes and dangers of fake news and teach you techniques to identify fake news and disinformation. In addition, the lecture will show you how to get the right information about essay submissions, postgraduate entrance examination and job hunting to avoid being scammed.

International Campus Library Mascot Creative Design Contest

In order to enhance the brand image of the international campus library and promote its affinity and influence, the library invites all students and faculties to design a mascot for the library. The winning work will become the library’s official mascot. 1.Participants: All students and faculties of the international campus. 2.Submission Guidelines: Participants should create a design for an exclusive mascot image for the library, based on the library's history, architecture, literature, and services, among other areas of focus. The submission requirements are as follows: a.Required submission: Participants must submit a color or monochrome design of the mascot image. Participants must give the mascot a name in both Chinese and English for easy memorization and dissemination. The design proposal must include a description of the mascot’s design concept, using a “Design Concept Statement Form” (Attachment Download). b.Optional submission: Participants may also submit multi-perspective design drafts and derivative application effects for the submission. 3.Submission Method: a.Please send your work and design concept document to the library: library@intl.zju.edu.cn. b.The email subject should be named as “International Campus Library Mascot Submission + Participant Name/Team Name”. 4.Submission Period: a.For Collection and Preliminary Screening: April 23 - May 15 b.For Display and Voting: May 16 - May 20 c.Announcement of Winners: May 21 5.Submission Requirements: a.You work should be a complete design proposal. b.You work should be applicable to the international campus library, reflecting library's cultural atmosphere and image. Any creative ideas are welcomed. c.There are no restrictions on the creative methods used for your work (if hand-drawn, please scan in high resolution). All submissions must be in electronic format, attached as a PDF, with a resolution of 300 dpi, and use RGB or CMYK mode. The size of the design must be A4 or smaller (297×210 mm), and the file size must be within 50 MB. d.Your work must be original designed. Plagiarism and misappropriation are strictly prohibited. If found, your qualifications will be cancelled, and you will be responsible for any legal liabilities incurred. e.You should use the photo materials, fonts and other materials legally and bear the corresponding legal responsibility. f.To ensure fairness and impartiality, your work must not contain any identifiable information. Failure to comply will result in disqualification. g.If more than one piece of work are submitted, the final submission will be used for judging. h.You should keep the original high-quality design files (such as AI, CDR, PSD, etc., with a minimum image resolution of 300dpi) or hand-drawn original drafts.
