[Resource Recommendation] Notice on the opening of the American society of civil engineers (ASCE) e-book

ASCE database is the largest civil engineering depository in the world. ASCE e-books are known for their variety of topics and genres. In terms of topic, it includes structural engineering, construction engineering, environmental engineering, geological technology, natural disasters (such as earthquakes and tsunamis), water resources planning and management, and civil engineering career strategies, whose content also involves interdisciplinary knowledge such as chemistry, architecture and computer science. In terms of genre, the departments under ASCE have prepared technical reports, practice manuals, special publications and monographs focusing on various projects for readers, forming several series.

Users of Zhejiang university can access 369 electronic books through ASCE database.

TCLEE monograph

TCLEE monograph is the abbreviation of the Technical Council on Lifeline Engineering Monographs. TCLEE monograph series books aim at promoting the forefront of lifeline engineering technology to resist the influence of earthquake disasters on human beings. Thus, most of the content covers the important finding which is made when the team assesses damage from the disaster, and it also shows the problems with certain lifeline projects (such as power and communications facilities, oil and gas systems, and water treatment systems) meanwhile.

TCCRE monograph

TCCRE monograph is the abbreviation of the Technical Council on Cold Regions Engineering Monograph. TCCRE books review the development of the engineering practice in the cold region and invite experts in a certain field to participate in the writing of each chapter and technical review.

CDRM monograph

CDRM monograph is the abbreviation of the Council on Disaster Risk Management Monograph. The CDRM monograph series focus on disaster risk assessment and risk mitigation methods, especially the way of determining acceptable risk levels for human beings, risk assessment criteria and evaluation of disaster response capability of engineering systems. Besides, the role of lifeline devices is also emphasized by CDRM, which includes some conference proceedings.

Technical report series

The technical reports series presents readers with practical experience in civil engineering for more than two decades. The report coves a variety of topics, such as post-disaster damage assessment, project case analysis, and sustainable construction and environmental engineering, which are attached great importance to by people in recent years.

Manual of Practice series

Manual of Practice series electronic books provide readers with standardized operation methods and application limitations analysis of a certain technology. Civil engineers can use the practical information in the MOP books in their own work. Most MOP books are reviewed impartially and authoritatively by the Blue Ribbon Panel.

ASCE Press series

The selected books in this series are all written by authoritative authors leading the industry, with strong practicality and thought inspiration, aiming at promoting the advancement of technical knowledge, and assist civil engineers and other related professionals in their career development. In addition to the featured subjects, there are books that address the general interest of engineers, such as management knowledge, teaching methods, standard guides, and engineering history.
