Compustat Financial and Price Database is a product of Standard & Poor's, a renowned American credit rating agency. The WRDS platform is a globally leading research data platform and business intelligence tool provided by the Wharton Research Data Services for users. The Compustat database can be accessed via WRDS (i.e., the Wharton Platform). The library has subscribed to the following components of the Compustat database:
Compustat Global ex North America:
Provides comprehensive financial and market data for over 42,000 companies outside North America (including 26,000 companies with fundamental data and 16,000 companies with market price data, i.e., daily closing prices), covering both active and inactive companies (delisted or removed). It includes over 80 countries, with up to 20 years of historical fundamental data for publicly traded companies and price data dating back to 1989. The data is updated monthly.
Compustat North America:
A comprehensive financial database with over 5,000 accounting-adjusted items, covering more than 28,000 publicly listed and delisted companies in North America. Historical data includes up to 20 years of annual financial data, 12 years of quarterly and interim data, 20 years of monthly price and dividend data, and up to 5 years of daily price history. The data is updated monthly.
Compustat North America Historical:
Includes reprocessed Compustat North America data for historical backtesting models and theoretical validation. Annual financial and price history data dates back to 1950, while quarterly historical data dates back to 1962. The data is updated monthly.
