[Resource Recommendation] Forwarding: The Subscription of “Knowledge Vision” Educational Video Resources

The video education resource library from eight countries, including Australia, Germany, Britain, Canada and the United States, covers the fields of engineering, science, medicine, agriculture, humanities, social sciences, sports, military and other fields. In addition to the functions of the multimedia network platform, the "knowledge horizon" has other functions: • Screen Retrieval. It supports the retrieval in Chinese and English, which can be retrieved every second. The users can quickly select information they required from nearly millions of entries. • Bilingual Subtitle. Users can decide on whether to hide subtitles while watching videos. Three viewing modes, including Chinese subtitles, subtitles, and bilingual subtitles can be selected freely. • Video Clip Saving. Users can save video clips directly to the user center for easy access simply by choosing the beginning of video clips. Han Culture Salon Successfully Held

In response to the World Reading Day, library and information center held a Han Culture salon on April 25th in the library multi-function room. Members of Xiachuan Han Club showed us manners and dressing of Han nationality. Around 20 participants attended the salon, both Chinese and foreign participants thought it make them understand traditional culture of China better.

‘There is a great deal of etiquette, so it is called Xia; there is a great deal of beauty, so it is called Hua’. Hanfu is one of the traditional costumes of China. In order to let teachers and students appreciate the Han culture, to immerse the campus in the atmosphere of traditional culture, Library and Information Center invited Xiachuan Han Culture Club to hold a Han culture salon. During the salon, we will introduce the form and etiquette of wearing Hanfu, invite the campus etiquette team to show the Hanfu, and the audience can also experience trying on the Hanfu. Besides, there will be some games, interacting with the audience. Hope you can feel the charm of traditional culture and Chinese clothes. Time: 6:45-8:00p.m. on April 25th, Wednesday. [Service Notice]Kindle & iPad Rental Service

To provide faculty and students with more e-resources, Kindle and iPad Rental Service will be Available from World Reading Day (April 23rd). You are warmly welcomed to try them in the library. 1. Location: Information Desk, the 1st floor, library 2. Rules: ① One device per person at the same time. Until it is returned, you can borrow another one; ② The device can be kept for at most 4 hours and be booked and borrowed the same day you want to use it in the library; ③It can be kept for a maximum of 7 days if you use it out of library; ④ no renewal. 3. Eligibility: faculty and students who have library membership 4. Loan procedure: go to library website http://lib.intl.zju.edu.cn , find ‘Using Library’, then enter booking system by clicking ‘Kindle and iPad Loan Service’. Once finishing your booking, you will receive an email which reminds you that you have book it successfully. Then, bring your campus card and go to library Information Desk on time to collect the kindle or iPad you have booked. Notice on the Available of ‘WeiXue’ Bookshelf

In order to accurately know the needs of readers, the library has set up ‘WeiXue’ Bookshelf on the shelf behind the consulting desk on the first floor. The bookshelf will display great deal of best-selling books and the books will be regularly updated. The books are allowed to borrow or purchase by teachers and students of the campus. Meanwhile, the books with the borrowing records will be added into our purchase lists. The establishment of ‘WeiXue’ Bookshelf is to improve the quality of library services and to build a ‘reader-oriented’ collection mode. You select, we collect! 1.Overview of WeiXue Bookself. (1) Location: the shelf behind the Consulting Desk, Library 1st Floor. (2) Available Date: from April 23rd, 2018. 2. Rules (1) Readers can borrow 12 books for 40 days after filling the form of ‘borrowing registration’ . Books with borrowing records will be purchased and put on the normal shelves for long-term circulation and storage. (2) Readers could also choose to purchase the books directly. Find the Voice for Library's Close Remind

To arouse the enthusiasm of the teachers' and students' creativity and participate in reading books, also to make the library close remind more humanized and diversified, library will use Bookan Reading Studio to carry out the library close remind solicitation. We sincerely invite all of you to participate the recording of library close remind. Participants can go to the Bookan Reading Studio on the first floor of the library to record the close remind and sent the file to the library's official email library@intl.zju.edu.cn, use email title as "Voice + INTL ID" We will organize a vote for the best voice after preliminary check. The most beautiful voice will be used as daily library close remind, the winner will get a Mi suitcase, other delicate gifts are available. Requirements as follows: 1. The voice broadcast is used for the 15 minutes before the daily closing of library to remind readers to leave the library, it should include necessary content such as ‘the library will be closed, please tidy up your personal belongings and leave in order. You can also add other content like greetings ‘wish you a good night, see you tomorrow’, etc.; 2. The broadcast language should be 'Chinese + English', which encourages the participation of Chinese and international teachers and students, and the title of the message will be unified as 'Voice+INTL ID' ; 3. The content should be controlled in 30 seconds and the BGM should be in 3-5 minutes. Time: Submission time: April 20th to 29th. Ways to participate: Step1: come and record the voice in the Bookan Reading Studio in library. Helpdesk will be moved to library

Dear all, To provide better services for teachers and students. IT Helpdesk will be moved to the 1st floor of library on April 1st. You could find it on your left hand when entering library’s main entrance. In addition, our 24-hour Hotline is still 87572669. IT Helpdesk will provide in-person technical support for Campus IT-related services. It is a drop-in service rather than requiring a booking. Library and Information Center March 30th 2018

New Self-Service: Book Scanners will be AVAILABLE

New Self-Service: Book Scanners will be AVAILABLE To better meet the needs of teaching and learning, two SHD scanners will be available in the library from 20th, March 2018. Specially designed for book scanning, it is more efficient than traditional scanners as both pages can be scanned at the same time without any damages. Numbers of scanned pages can be saved as an e-book, and words in each page can be easily transformed into text and be read aloud. If you want to try it, please go to the Self-service Zone in the 1st floor of library and the Service Desk in the 2rd floor, where instructions are now given for your reference: How to Use Book Scanner?. Top tips: 1. According to Copyright Law, there is a limit of 10% for book scanning. The scanned files are only for research and study. 2.
