Unregistered teachers and students should log in the website and click "Register for a WRDS Account". The email for registration should be ZHEJIANG University Email. After filling in and submitting the registration application, the customer representative office will send the username and password to the email of the application.

The Wharton Research Data Center (WRDS) is an industry-leading data research platform and business intelligence tool used by more than 50,000 academic, government, nonprofit, and corporate clients in 36 countries. WRDS began in 1993 to support the research work of faculty members at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and has since grown into a standard tool for the global research community. WRDS gives users access to more than 250 terabytes of data in one place, covering areas as diverse as finance, marketing and economics. WRDS includes more than 600 sublibraries from more than 60 data providers, including S&P Global Market Intelligence data (Compustat and Capital IQ), Chicago Center for Research in Security Prices (CRSP), Thomson Reuters, GTP, and others. Such databases provide raw data for third-party vendors and are grafted onto the WRDS platform. WRDS also provides 10 public databases including CBOE and Bank Regulatory. The WRDS platform provides seamless access to massive databases and provides a unified access interface for the different databases hosted to help researchers simplify the data extraction process. 

 

The following databases are accessible through the WRDS (Wharton platform) login. 

 1.Compustat financial and price database is the product of standard & Poor's, a famous American credit rating company. 

  1. Compustat Global ex North America, Compustat (Excluding North America): Provides complete financial data and market data for more than 42,000 companies worldwide (excluding North America) (26,000 companies include fundamental data and 16,000 companies include market price data i.e., daily closing prices), both active and inactive companies (delisted or delisted). Contains daily fundamental historical data for publicly traded companies in more than 80 countries going back 20 years, with price data going back to 1989. Data is updated monthly. 

  1. North Amercia, Compustat (North America): A comprehensive financial database of more than 5,000 accounting adjusted items covering more than 28,000 public and delisted or delisted companies in North America. Historical data includes annual data within 20 years of the company's financial data, quarterly data and stage data within 12 years of the company's financial data, monthly price data and dividend data within 20 years of the company's price data and daily price historical data within 5 years of the company's price data. Data is updated monthly. 

  1. North Amercia Hitorical, Compustat (North American History Data package): Contains Compustat North American data that can be used for reprocessing of historical data back testing models and validation theories, with annual financial and transaction price histories going back to 1950 and quarterly histories going back to 1962. Data is updated monthly. 

2.Bureau Van Dijk (BvD) Series databases 

d. Osiris: Osiris database is a large professional financial analysis database studying more than 80,000 listed companies in 155 countries in the world's stock exchanges (including the data of Listed companies in Shenzhen, Shanghai and overseas). It provides professional users with detailed financial and operating statements and analysis ratios, ownership structure, corporate rating data, stock price series over the years, and enterprise industry analysis reports (including delisted company data) needed for in-depth analysis of listed companies in various countries. Osiris database is a well-known empirical analysis database widely used by European and American countries in the research fields of securities investment analysis of listed companies, enterprise strategic operation analysis, transfer pricing of multinational enterprises, corporate financial analysis and so on. In order to meet the needs of different users and accurately carry out transnational and cross-industry retrieval and analysis, the financial data of listed companies in the database are presented in different financial formats, from the standard template to the original financial data. 

3.CSMAR: CSMAR (China Stock Market & Accounting Research Database) is a data platform based on CRSP and COMPUSTAT, which is supported by a professional R & D team from China Finance Research Center of the University of Hong Kong, China Accounting and Finance Research Center of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Shanghai Stock Exchange, Shenzhen Stock Exchange and other professional research institutions and investment industry and other international well-known database construction standards for the development of academic research for the purpose of advanced professional, accurate database fusion construction. 

4.SDC M&A: Mergers and acquisitions library covers all over the world more than 621000 transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, buying shares, sold and stripping assets, rumors, and looking for the buyer's trading, leveraged buyouts, offer, privatization, spin-off, division, repurchase, repurchase, debt restructuring and bankruptcy liquidation, history data can be traced back to 1970s, Involving more than 118,000 joint ventures and strategic alliances (worldwide) and more than 14,900 repurchase transactions (United States). 

5.Dealscan: Dealscan is a global real-time and historical database of syndicated loans provided by Refinitiv (formerly Thomson Reuters Finance & Risk), a subsidiary of the London Stock Exchange. It contains core information on loan and bond contract terms, interest rates and so on. The database provides a reliable source of information on loan/bond transactions and is an important tool for studying the syndicated loan market. It contains detailed terms and conditions of over 240,000 loan transactions.
