“To Make Your Own Marbling”— Wei Xue Fair Ended Successfully

Wei Xue Fair: To Make Your Own Marbling was launched on December 1st at 1 p.m. in the Library. Nearly 30 teachers and students from the campus participated in this activity. Han Xiuli, Ying Chaonan and Li Junwen, teachers from ZJU library, were invited to give an introduction and demonstration on paper marbling. After introducing the required tools, teachers showed the complete process of marbling, from drawing all kinds of pigments in the water, to washing of semi-finished works.

“Reading in Wonderland”— Wei Xue Fair Ended Successfully

“If people don't read, it's like walking at night." In order to meet and explore the needs of teachers and students of the campus for foreign language books and discipline-related literature resources, and also to further deepen readers' understanding of how to use literature resources, and to improve the utilization rate of the library's resources, the library launched a five-day “Reading in Wonderland”— Wei Xue Fair in the October. Wei Xue Fair On-site The event was officially launched on October 19. Based on the supported services and the diversified needs of readers, the event included four activities, a foreign books fair, a "Nobel Prize" book promotion, a lecture on the e-textbooks promotion and a information literacy lecture on "literature research". The activities were well attended by teachers and students. English Books Promotion at the Atrium Lecture on E-textbooks Promotion Information Literacy Lecture Nealy 100 clicks to the online channel Nearly 4,000 original foreign language books were selected for the fair. By the end of the event, the library had received a total of 849 books recommended by teachers and students, covering various disciplines such as biomedical science, engineering, computer science, economics, humanities and social sciences, etc., which fit the professional study and research of teachers and students on the campus, and we look forward to the next event. Wei Xue Salon:Living Library — Cultural Confidence and Family-country Emotions in Jin Yong's Works

The second Wei Xue Salon: Living Library was launched on November 8 at 10 a.m. in the International Campus Library. Mr. Yuan Fei, the Honorary President of the Global Jin Yong Fan Club, was invited to share the cultural confidence and family-country emotions of Jin Yong's works with readers in the library multi-function room. Nearly 20 teachers and students from the campus participated in this activity. The speaker, Mr. Yuan Fei, introduced the world of “jinxue”, described the culture of chivalry in China and the splendid life of Mr. Jin Yong. Ms. Yuan Fei shared the experience of giving lecture on Jin Yong What is chivalry? Why can Jin Yong's works transcend time and space and become a milestone in the promotion of Chinese civilization and the preservation of traditional culture? Mr. Yuan Fei answered the audience with humorous words. Mr. Yuan Fei shared the culture of chivalry During the event, audiences discussed and exchanged ideas about Mr. Jin Yong's works. Mr. Yuan Fei's wonderful analysis made everyone gain a lot. Readers received a book signed by Mr. Yuan Fei in the Q&A session. WeiXue Salon:Living Library — Cultural Confidence and Family-country Emotions in Jin Yong's Works

Two years ago, Jin Yong, a famous writer of martial arts novels, passed away at the age of 94. Some say that there are no more martial arts after Jin Yong, while others say that his death has left a legacy of chivalry. In the world of Jin Yong, there is not only the jianghu of sword and blood, but also the national sentiment of “chivalrous spirit”, which is for the country and its people. The righteousness towards the nation in the historical context of Jin Yong’s work, and the “chivalrous spirit” that displayed in the characters’ personalities, have influenced hundreds of millions of Chinese in the world.
