Lu Youxiang: Embracing the Light, Heart Towards the Future
Lu Youxiang is a 2021 undergraduate student major in biomedical sciences at the Zhejiang University-University of Edinburgh Institute (ZJE). At the beginning of freshman year, she joined the library student assistant team, and successively took part in teaching and research work, publicity and general management, etc. In 2023, she became the chairperson of the Library Student Assistant Management Committee, responsible for the management of the team. In 2024, she was awarded the title of Star of Zhejiang University work-study program.

Dear Readers,
Our library is excited to announce the launch of the Chinese Learning Bookshelf, designed to provide you with richer and more convenient learning resources for your Chinese language studies. This thematic bookshelf is categorized into three levels—Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced—based on Chinese language proficiency, to meet the needs of learners at different stages. In addition, we offer Chinese language learning references, books on Chinese culture, and teaching reference & developmental books. The thematic bookshelf is located on the east side of 2nd floor, library, and all books are available for borrowing.
We hope that these carefully selected thematic books will make your journey of learning Chinese more enjoyable and efficient. Learn more, fun more!

Notice on the Launch of Short-Term Loan Service for the Library Textbook Shelf
Dear Readers,
In order to enhance the quality of teaching support services and facilitate access to textbooks & references, the library is pleased to introduce a short-term loan service for the textbook shelf. The specific details of the short-term loan service are hereby notified as follows:
I. Borrowing Service
The library has set up a textbook shelf on the first floor's west side, specifically for housing textbooks & references assigned to institute courses across various fields, including biomedical sciences, engineering, and languages. The textbook shelf provides indoor reading and short-term loan services. The short-term loan period is 1 day, with a limit of 1 item per person and no renewals are allowed.
II. Borrowing Rules
1. To expedite the circulation of books, please return books on time. The borrowing privileges will be suspended for at least 30 days when an item is overdue; if readers do not return the books within 3 days after receiving the reminder, the short-term loan service will be suspended for 180 days.
2. Compensation for damage, loss, etc. of books will follow the relevant rules and regulations of the library.
III. Book Borrowing and Return
1. Readers can use valid identification documents, such as your campus card or Passport, to borrow books. Please note that borrowing books with someone else's documents is not permitted.
2. Conduct all borrowing and returning at the Library Information Desk, 1st floor.
IV. Borrowing Privileges
1. First-time borrowers from the textbook shelf need to activate their short-term loan privileges at the Library Information Desk, 1st floor using a valid ID. The activation is for readers who have already activated the library borrowing privileges.
2. Readers are required to return all borrowed materials and deactivate borrowing privileges upon leaving the campus for any reason, including but not limited to graduation, suspension, withdrawal, transfer, or resignation.

Notice re Trial Operation of the Library Book Location Navigation Service
Dear Readers,
To further provide precise and convenient book search services and enhance reader service experience, following construction and optimization, the library will officially launch the trial operation of its book location navigation service on December 22nd.
The book location and navigation service are based on AI intelligent visual recognition technology, which collects real-time bookshelf information and accurately locates book positions, providing readers with a brand-new book search experience. You can input relevant information such as the title and author, select the book you wish to borrow, and the system will instantly generate an optimal route to guide you to quickly locate the book on the shelf, which will significantly improve book-finding efficiency.
Currently, the book location navigation service is only applicable to books in this library and does not support other branches. For details, please refer to the User Instructions: User Instructions.pdf
