“You Select, We Collect” ——The Library Organized Teachers and Students to Participate in the 2023 Autumn Chinese Book Exhibition

In order to meet the diversified reading needs of our readers, optimize the library collection structure, and allow teachers and students to enjoy the fun of selecting and collecting books. The library specially invited teachers and students in the campus to participate the “2023 Autumn Zhejiang Chinese Book Exhibition” held by Zhejiang Xinhua Bookstore Group Co., LTD. The exhibition integrated the offline exhibition and the online “Yun Guan Pei” book selection platform. More than 200,000 high-quality Chinese books were exhibited and more than 600 well-known domestic publishers participate in the event. A wide range of subjects were covered in this exhibition, including professional disciplines like biology, medicine, computer science, and mechanical engineering, etc. Books in humanities fields were also involved, such as literature, history, and philosophy. The online “Yun Guan Pei” platform was conducted from October 9, 2023 to October 13, 2023. During this five-day online book fair, a total amount of 83 readers registered, and recommended a total of 658 books. The online book fair facilitates communication and interaction between teachers, students, libraries, stores, and social organizations for those who were unable to attend the offline exhibition in person, effectively catering to the needs of all readers involved.

Notice re the Arrangement of Campus Services During the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day Holiday

Dear all, According to the Notice on Class Schedule Adjustments for Fall-Winter Semester 2023-2024, campus services during the mid-autumn festival and the National Day holiday (Sep. 29th – Oct. 6th) are as follows: 1. Library: Closed from Oct. 1st to 3rd, and will open as usual from Oct. 4th, same as Café. E-resources are still accessible on library website (https://lib.intl.zju.edu.cn/). Chinese and Western Competitive Sports Serial Events

Sports is a complex, social and cultural phenomenon in human history. It is created, enriched and developed as an organic part of human social life, and shows distinct characteristics of the times and regions in different historical stages and human value orientations. On the arrival of the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games, the library organized a series of events. We selected six representative sports from the Asian Games events, and combined their historical development with text and historical pictures; moreover, some sports-related books were exhibited and excerpts were read aloud to show the charm of sports; here is also VR sports experience activities including soccer, tennis, badminton, table tennis, archery, inviting you to do sports together! To help new students quickly understand and familiarize themselves with the library, a series of welcome events for freshmen in the year of 2023 were organized by the library from August 26 to September 22. As the new students arrived, a welcome table was set up with library guides, bookmarks, and drifted bottles from graduates.
