Women Sketches: The Record of the Growth and Strength of Women

“Every 3,000 years there's a big change.” After the Opium War in 1840, with the gradual change in the nature of society and the introduction of modern Western thought and aesthetic concepts, Chinese women were becoming more open-minded, moving from the pursuit of physical liberation to the pursuit of intellectual liberation, personality independence and personal freedom. The Library has selected news reports and pictures of Chinese women from the Illustrated London News to present the social image of Chinese women from the perspective of Western observers. Let’s follow the step of western reporters, and walk into the time when Chinese women were emancipating themselves and gradually blossoming into women. In addition, at the library atrium, there will be a book exhibition of “Women’s Self-development”, which will convey the admirable female power in various fields in different times.
