“You Select, We Collect" – Chinese and Foreign Languages Book Fair Successfully Held

To further enrich the cultural life of the campus and enhance the reading experience, the library, together with famous domestic publishers, carefully planned and held the “You Select, We Collect" – Chinese and Foreign Languages Book Fair. 

Read Original Foreign Languages, Get the Frontiers of Disciplines

The offline foreign language book fair was carried out from 9 to 12 October 2024 in the library atrium. More than 3,000 books were exhibited covering disciplines such as biomedicine, engineering, business, literature, art and history. Readers participated enthusiastically and recommended more than 700 foreign language books.

Optimizing readers’ experience through online and offline book recommendation

The Chinese Book Fair was conducted in the combination of offline fair and online platforms.
The online book fair was carried out from 8 to 12 October, and included more than 600 famous domestic publishers and over 400,000 book varieties for readers to recommend online.
On 11 October, the library organized the offline Chinese book fair in Hangzhou, where more than 350 core publishers brought their latest high-quality books. 10 readers from the campus participated in and had close communication with well-known publishers and editors to get the latest publishing information.

During the book selection, readers carefully read through the books, and selected more than 2,000 high-quality new books according to the specific needs of their disciplines and personal reading interests.

Sha Rui, a student from Bioinformatics major of Grade 2024, said excitedly after the book fair that he was very happy to see a lot of books he was interested in during the day. The books covered a wide range of categories, including some books that he had always wanted to read. He can't wait to see the books he's picked on the library book shelf. Cai Qize, a Civil Engineering major from Grade 2024, also said that it was his first time to participate in the book fair and saw many famous publishers and the rich book resources they brought to the fair. The book fair was filled with a strong cultural atmosphere, which made readers feel as if they were in the sea of knowledge. This will be an unforgettable memory and will inspire him to continue on the road of reading.

The combination of online and offline book fair has brought the interaction between the library and readers to an unprecedentedly close level. Library will review the recommendations as soon as possible, and push forward the  purchasing, processing and shelving to ensure that these carefully selected books can meet the readers as soon as possible.
