The Microbiology Society (MS) is the leading microbiological society in Europe and aims to promote the understanding of microbiology among policy makers, students, teachers, journalists and the general public through a wide range of communication activities. The Society publishes key scientific journals in the fields of microbiology and virology and organizes international scientific meetings, providing a platform for international exchange among microbiologists. The Society for Microbiology journal database contains six journals, of which three are hybrid journals and three are fully open access journals, as follows:
Mixed journals:
1. Journal of General Virology
The Journal of General Virology publishes original research in virology that has made a significant contribution to the field, with an emphasis on basic research.
2. Journal of Medical Microbiology
Publishes outstanding original research papers or original reviews, editorials or case studies in the fields of medicine and microbiology.
3. International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology
Publishes papers describing all stages of microbial systematics, including taxonomy, nomenclature, identification, characterisation and strain conservation.
Fully open access journal:
1. Microbiology
Publishes high-quality research papers and reviews in the field of microbiology, with an emphasis on basic research in the biology of prokaryotic and eukaryotic microorganisms.
2. Microbial Genomics
Microbial Genomics publishes research on genomic methods in microbiology.
3. Access Microbiology
It's an open research platform for members of the microbiology community to publish replicated studies, null results, research proposals, data management plans, additions to established methods, and interdisciplinary research.
APC fee waiver: In 2024, the library began subscribing to the journal databases of the Society for Microbiology on a "read+publish" model. Our students and faculty can publish an unlimited number of open access articles as corresponding authors in the journals of the Society for Microbiology free of charge, and they must use the domain name @zju.edu.cn when submitting their papers.
