Encounter in Reading — Library 2026 World Book Day Series Concludes Successfully

April fills the campus with the fragrance of books, and elegant charm nourishes the hearts of all. Marking the 31st World Book Day, the first National Reading Week, and the 10th anniversary of the campus' founding, library launched more than ten activities under the three major sections of scholarly services, academic empowerment, and cultural exchange, themed " Encounter in Reading ". Covering scenarios such as inclusive reading, research support, and cultural exchange, the activities drew enthusiastic participation and positive feedback from teachers and students, and have now concluded successfully, painting a magnificent scholarly picture for the spring campus.

 

Nourishing Hearts with Books, Deepening Services to Consolidate the Foundation of Reading

Let reading enrich daily life and warmth spread beauty. To mark the campus’ 10th anniversary, the library launched the Share the Joy of Reading — Book Donation Drive. Faculty and students donated cherished books, with 19 volumes received so far. Old books gain new life; gratitude for your kind support.

Synchronized with this, the 2025 Library Annual Data Review was released, capturing the warm moments of scholarly companionship with heartfelt figures. iZJUers enthusiastically shared their daily reading habits, recounting details of collection borrowing, featured activities, service optimization, and space renewal. Illustrated records preserve the scholarly atmosphere year by year, cherishing a full year of reading warmth and beauty.

From April 23rd to 24th, the library held the book blind box activity. Blind box books were placed throughout the library, breaking inherent reading patterns and allowing participants to encounter unique literary charm. The activity attracted 29 teachers and students who participated enthusiastically. Many praised its novel and unique format, enjoying reading pleasure amid unexpected surprises and gaining a strong sense of accomplishment when guessing the book correctly.。

Empowering Academic Journeys, Precisely Supporting the Improvement of Academic Capabilities

From April 22nd to 23rd, librarians visited ZJE, ZJUI, ZIBS, and various research centers, providing face-to-face guidance on resource retrieval, service consultations, and demand alignment. By precisely responding to the needs of teachers and students, the library delivered convenient and thoughtful services directly to them.

Furthermore, based on the research growth needs of teachers and students and focusing on pain points in improving academic efficiency, the library organized a series of practical academic lectures to empower research journeys. The lectures featured a rich lineup and practical content, covering key areas such as tool operation, literature management, and cutting-edge technologies. Packed with practical knowledge, the lectures were both practical and instructive. Teachers and students who participated online and offline engaged in lively interactions, expressing that they gained a great deal and that the lectures provided practical impetus for academic research.

Mutual Learning of Civilizations, Building a Bridge with Books for a Journey to Southeast Asia

On World Book Day, the library launched the Southeast Asia Season of " Civilizations in Dialogue, World Tour", immersing participants in the charm of Southeast Asian culture. In the atrium exhibition area, the " A Thousand Years of Weaving" Southeast Asian Traditional Attire Exhibition and the “Written in the Southern Seas” Southeast Asian Culture Book Fair opened simultaneously.

The costume exhibition showcased the essence of traditional costumes from Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Exquisite brocades embody the craftsmanship of thousands of years, fully demonstrating the unique aesthetics of Southeast Asia. The themed book fair gathered classics on Southeast Asian history, literature, and folklore, tracing the civilization of the Maritime Silk Road through books and allowing teachers and students to appreciate the cultural heritage of Southeast Asia and the beauty of cultural integration between the pages.

In parallel, a variety of audio cultural activities were launched warmly. " Let Me Read to You ", in collaboration with the Chaosheng Radio Club, released two special episodes on Southeast Asian culture, conveying the charm of foreign literature through voice. The cafeteria created a Southeast Asian musical atmosphere with newly added NFC tap-to-listen functionality. Melodious folk music lingered in the air, allowing teachers and students to immerse themselves in Southeast Asian style amid delicious food and music.

On April 24th, the " Glimpse of the Exotic — Nanyang Cultural Experience Day " kicked off lively. Three interactive activities — nut rattle making, Southeast Asian bracelet crafting, and brocade costume photo-taking — were full of fun. A total of 19 teachers and students handcrafted unique rattles and accessories, immersing themselves in the charm of Southeast Asian culture. The scene was filled with laughter, creating a warm and harmonious atmosphere.

Reading is a dialogue across time and space, as well as a bridge for mutual learning between civilizations. This year's World Book Day series combine practical value and cultural connotation, fostering a strong reading atmosphere on campus, supporting academic research, and broadening cultural horizons through diverse activities. In the future, the library will continue to optimize reading services, regularly carry out cultural exchange activities, nourish hearts with books, empower through reading, make reading a lasting trend on campus, and accompany teachers and students to grow toward the light.
