From March 27th, the four-day Spring Chinese Book Fair concluded successfully, followed by the Spring Foreign Original Book Fair from April 7th to 8th. The library connected readers through the " You Select, We Collect" initiative, combining online and offline channels and linking Chinese and foreign resources, allowing faculty and students to deeply participate in the construction of literature resources. Every new book added to the collection bears the passionate imprint of its readers.
Online Book Selection, Easy Clicks
From March 23rd to 26th, the online recommendation for the Chinese Book Fair began. The platform integrated resources from over 600 renowned publishing suppliers, presenting more than 400,000 high-quality books suitable for the collection. Campus readers actively participated, recommending nearly 200 books online, showcasing their personalized reading needs.
Immersive Reading Experience
On March 24th, the library organized 8 faculty and student representatives to visit the Shaoxing International Convention and Exhibition Center for the Zhejiang Library Collection Book Exhibition. The large publishing group exhibition area and themed pavilions were well-arranged, attracting attention with a plethora of new books. Participants engaged in face-to-face exchanges with publishers, capturing the forefront of publishing through comparison and browsing.
The online and offline book fair attracted about 20 faculty and students for on-site selection, recommending a total of over 1,300 books. ZJUI graduate student Xu Yunchi expressed excitement: "At the book fair, encountering familiar publisher names made me realize that I had gradually distanced myself from paper books, favoring electronic materials. Walking among the publishers, I discovered many well-crafted and interesting books worth reading again."
Foreign Originals, Academic Focus
From April 7th to 8th, the Spring Foreign Book Fair was held as scheduled. To precisely serve academic development, the foreign book fair adopted a subject-specific exhibition approach: professional books were displayed at ZJE and ZIBS colleges, facilitating faculty and students to select original works closely related to teaching and research; humanities and social sciences books were exhibited on the first floor of the library. The event showcased over 2,000 foreign original books, receiving recommendations for 940 books from about 100 faculty and students, effectively filling the gap in the library's foreign resources.
With the conclusion of the book fair, the library continues its service. The recommended books will be procured and cataloged as quickly as possible, ensuring that the reading choices of faculty and students are realized. When every expectation finds its echo on the shelves, the "two-way journey" of reading truly achieves its value - letting knowledge flow and filling the campus with the fragrance of books.
